As technology embeds itself deep and deeper into our lives, the way we interact with technology changes. conversational interfaces are proving to be an efficient way to interact with systems for accomplishing a variety of tasks. Ask your smart speaker to turn your lights on. Text your bank account to get your balance. Order a pizza from Domino’s with a tweet. This presentation will give you an overview on what conversational interfaces are, their history, how they work, what they are good at and what they are not so good at. You should leave with a better understanding of conversational interfaces, how they can potentially help you solve your problems and what resources are available.
Scott is a software engineer, craftsman, cook and creative problem solver. User-centered design is top of mind with everything he builds, from furniture to software. He has spent the last 5 years at Target as a user interface engineer focusing on innovation and emerging technologies to solve a variety of problems. Scott is born and raised in Minnesota where he currently lives with his wife Jessica, their 8 month old daughter, Norah and their dog, Otto. He’s a naturally curious person who is constantly learning new skills, designing, building and teaching.
