Instructional Designer
The Instructional Designer is responsible for curriculum development for our customer care teams and our customers. This position is also responsible for developing training programs to enhance the competencies and skills of our team members. This position will effectively design blended training in support of Loram’s Operations’ programs to ensure superior workforce preparation, including development of agreed upon performance metrics, specifically with technically skilled employees.


• Confer with Production, Engineering, and Operations employees to gain knowledge of operational and maintenance work situations requiring training and to better understand changes in policies, procedures, regulations, safety initiatives and technologies.
• Design and build training curriculum, modules and programs, and prepare teaching plans for machine operations and maintenance.
• Establish, nurture, and maintain collaborative partnerships with quality, safety, engineering, production, and operations – providing continual classroom innovation.
• Quickly synthesize and write course content based on the input from subject matter experts, written material, previous training courses, interviews, etc.
• Coordinate training schedules with internal and external clients as demand requires.
• Develop and deliver train the trainer courses on developed curriculum as appropriate.
• Participate in continuous improvement efforts with quality staff and adjust training curriculum to support those efforts.
• Formulate teaching outline and determining instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, CBT training, lectures, demonstrations, meetings and workshops.
• Develop testing programs for trainees to measure progress, ensure incorporation of taught skills and techniques, and to evaluate effectiveness of training.
• Responsible to train others in the art and skill of Instructional Design and Content Development and is expected to provide expert consultation in learning program production, measurement, visualization, and delivery via multiple modalities, methodologies, and mediums.
• Conducts project discovery, identifies and architects the appropriate training treatments, and assesses the workforce effort to produce learning activities; then turns the assessment into a Storyboard, to aid customers in visualizing what they will receive in the finished product.
• Support e-authoring tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Lectura Storyline, or other Multimedia tools including staging, shooting, and editing live action video

Education: Bachelors degree in Communications, Education, Business or related field

Experience: 3 to 5 years’ experience in Training and development or instructional design; Prior curriculum design. Delivery of adult classroom and e-learning solutions along with proven experience in designing multiple training events. Utilize instructional design methods SAM and ADDIE, Blooms Taxonomy and Allen’s CCAF Expertise (or like models).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Knowledge of computers and software with good word processing skills using Microsoft applications.
• Ability to maintain a flexible travel calendar.
• Expert knowledge in ISD, AGILE principles.
• Excellent presentation skills and managing a diverse classroom environment.
• Ability to effectively design and deliver Technical, Skills or Behavioral based training in any modality at multiple organizational levels.
• Ability to effectively assess training outcomes (Kirkpatrick level 1-4, ROI or other industry standards).
• Highly skilled in the use of LMS/LCMS systems to maintain and deploy training.
• Ability to translate technical information and requirements into a format that is user friendly and easy to integrate operationally.
• Strong understanding of eLearning Protocols.

Licenses/Certifications: Instructional Designer, Designing Learning Certificate, Needs Assessment Certificate, Master Trainer, Adult Learning Certificate.
